Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure that aims at removing localized fat.
Liposuction, luposculpturing, lipoplasty, suction assisted lipectomy, refer to a surgical procedure designed to remove fat from various parts of the body such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, flanks, back, inner knees, upper arms, submental area and breasts with the help of suction methods such as Wet liposuction, Super-wet liposuction, Tumescent liposuction.

  • Liposuction procedure involves injecting a solution containing a local anesthetic and adrenalin. then the loosened fat cells are suctioned with an aspirator connected to a cannula and removed through negative suction.
  • There are several techniques of liposuction that are based on the fluid injected; Wet liposuction, Super-wet liposuction, Tumescent liposuction
  • Week 1 – After surgery you can expect some extent of pain, bruising and swelling. The pain can easily be treated with over the counter medication. A compression garment is advised.
  • Week 2 – After surgery, sutures are removed, bruising and swelling will reduce drastically and a marked difference in the body structure is visible.
  • Hardening in the operated areas may be noticed which is reduced by going through a series of lymphatic massages. There might also be a blunting of sensation for a period of 6-8 weeks however sensation often returns as early as a month following liposuction.
  • Rest for 2-3 days after the procedure. Wear the compression garment for up to 4 weeks.
  • Based on the type and extent of the surgery, you can return to work within 2 days to 2 weeks.
  • Avoid strenuous activity during this period.
  • A good liposuction result is guaranteed only if a proper diet and exercise regime are followed.
